If you don't shoot distance and/or don't have to hit small targets under varied conditions, carry on with 335. if it's 75 degree's every single day where you shoot, and you have a powder meter than can dump 335 spot on, don't change a thing. I am old school, so is 335, and even I have left it. H322 performs with standard primers regardless. if you don't believe me, you don't know what cold means (smile). ģ35 also requires a hot primer when it's but arse cold. by a long shot, for heavies.and flows so much better too (a large part of why it shoots better than Varget imo). IMR 8202 XBR works better for me than 335 or Varget. both are "better" than 335, by a long shot imo. H322 works better for me than 335 for 40 - 60 grainers. Extreme powders stay in the accuracy node longer. To the point I can load the same accuracy load(s) throughout the year, for a given rifle. it's entirely possible to fall out of the accuracy node due to weather extremes, with 335 (particularly if you didn't really find a wide one, or the right one).Įxtreme powders (less temp sensitive) significantly reduce weather related variance for me. you will absolutely see significant (as in enough to make you miss a small live target 300 plus out there) POI variance with 335 from dead of winter to heat of summer. No joke, my tuned loads see 75 to 100 (when it's really stinking cold) degree temperature swings. I shoot paper sometimes (when testing, at ranges when I meet my buddies, and sometimes/but rarely for comp).īut 90% of my volume, are shots that matter (lol, "matter", not really but you get the point).and involve shots into (or at lol) critters. put 335 (and varget for that matter), out to pasture for me (yes, I know varget is an extreme powder, but it flows like crap, and we all know it) The advent of less temperature sensitive powders ("extreme" in the Hodgdon vernacular), cut in small grain extruded that flow quite well. (With projectile fully seated.) Powder Type, Max Load Grain, FPS(AVG). If 335 does all you need it to, keep using it, it's still good.īut, for me, there are "better" (subjective, eye of the beholder stuff)) powders that actually perform much better (objective, for me, according to my measurements, in my stuff, reloaded by me). Never load casings under 75 of available volume. H335 used to be my fav in 223 light bullets.
